Oxidation during Fresh Plant Processing: A Race against Time

چکیده

Oxidation is a major concern in the food and cosmetics industry; however, little information available literature about its effect during production of herbal medicines. The impact oxidation on mother tincture (MT) manufacturing was investigated by performing an oxidative stress test, which cryogenically ground fresh plants (Echinacea purpurea, Mentha piperita, Ginkgo biloba, Hypericum perforatum) were exposed to air time-controlled manner before extraction. resulting extracts evaluated using UV–Vis spectroscopy potassium permanganate antioxidant assay. Furthermore, tyrosinase enzymatic assay performed MTs evaluate behavior absorbance spectra phenolic compounds oxidation. Additionally, several commercially tinctures examined for changes. exposure plant material 30 min decreased activity all four tested 10% 44%. This decrease occurred along with intensity diminution flattening typical absorption MTs. results have shown that MT serious issue could be monitored means simple recording.
